This most definitely IS your grandmother's basic potholder - the kind she would make out of cute fabric scraps. It's not fancy, it's not teflon, it doesn't have non-skid grippy textures, and you can't plunge your hand into boiling water while holding it. Just a nice, humble, quilted cotton hotpad which has a thousand uses in the kitchen and which stores nice and flat in a drawer!
